So lately i been on this real kick about old jewelry. i remembered a few weeks ago loosing one of my moms old rings (a really long time ago) that i really liked (she didnt even know i had lost it till i mentioned it). She thought she had it and we went looking through her various jewelry hiding places. Sadly we didn't find the ring i was looking for.I ended up buying one that looks like it on ebay since it was the only one on there that looked like it and it has a great story to it. Supposedly it was found by divers in the atlantic ocean. But anyway as we was searching we found moms old spoon ring. Mom said i could have it but i didn't feel right taking it. Well anyway what got me really started was we ended up going to our local annual street fair and we ended up coming across this guy and his booth full of silver spoon jewelry. Not only could u buy rings, but necklaces, bracelets, hair clips...anything you could think of. Well of course i didn't have the money to buy anything but i thought it was really neat. Anyway i been searching for weeks for the bracelet ones and i tried the usual amazon, ebay. Well finally i typed it into google search and came across this site called etsy.com that sells handmand items. They have 85 pages full of silver jewelry! I am so excited. I already have a few pieces that are saying rachel buy me...but my head is saying rachel you dont got the money right now....but anyway here is the link and a few pieces i got my eye on although there way to expensive http://www.etsy.com/search/handmade?q=silver+spoon+jewelry This totally just describes what i have been going through for the past few months...if you click on the pic it will take you to the link but its 128.00 dollars ouch! |
This one is made of 2 forks...can click on the pic for link to page 38.00
So obviously as you can see they are very unique and you will also notice pretty expensive. The one thing i want to point out is that yahoo had a video recently saying that one of the best things to invest in is gemstones as in the real ones not the fake ones off the walmart shelf. They said that the value of gemstones does not decrease it only increases. This includes diamonds, gold and of course silver! So pretty much yeah you will be paying 38.00 or more for a piece of silver now but in the future it could be worth more then what you paid for it. If your not wanting to do jewelry you can also do old coins (like my fiance is doing :)).
